English Pearlware Silver Shape Blue & White Printed Jug

About the Item

A large and impressive English pearlware, possibly Liverpool, blue and white printed silver shaped jug dating from the latter 18th century. The lightly potted jug stands raised on a simple round domed foot with a bulbous shaped body with a funnel shaped top and large pouring spout. A ridged strap shaped handle is applied to the side. The jug is decorated with a blue and white chinoiserie landscape scene with a pagoda shaped house set amidst trees and appears to be an early variation of the ‘Willow’ pattern. The jug has decorative banding around the outer and inner top edge and has an impressed P mark, possibly for Pennington (Liverpool) to the base of the jug. Provenance: Acquired from the UK Art Market In good condition with only light wear associated with age and use.
