Pair of Cut-Glass Silver-Mounted Decanters, 19th Century, Edmond Tétard
About the Item
Pair of cut crystal decanter or ewer engraved with scrolls and floral patterns. The crystal is set in a fine silver setting with pilasters and garlands on the body of each carafe. The top and the handle are decorated with floral patterns and a cartouche. Each carafe rests on a finely chiselled pedestal.
Measures: H 12.4in. (31.5 cm)
P 78.51oz. (2226g).
Silver hallmark: Minerva head.
Hallmark: EDT for Edmond Tetard. (1860-1901). “House founded in 1880 by Edmond Tétard (1860-1901) following the takeover of Mr. Hugo's house. The neck of the ewer is finely chiseled with floral motifs and grape vines. The beak is closed by a lid whose grip is adorned with a floral pattern in relief. The interior is vermeil. The ewer has an handle decorated with foliage. The base is decorated with a stylized laurel frieze.
