About the Item
Very rare copper tray designed by Christopher Dresser for the manufactory Benham & Froud, circa 1882-1885.
Lovely aesthetic movement oval-shaped tray with scalloped edges. The tray is made of copper decorated in the middle part with circles and flowers (possibly peonies) inlaid with mixed-colored metal - silvered and gilded brass. A vegetal look very representative of pieces of the Aesthetic Movement and from the most beautiful designs produced by Christopher Dresser.
This tray is reproduced n°192 in Widar Halén, Christopher Dresser, Phaïdon, Christie's, Oxford, 1990.
