Davenport Hand Coloured Platter

About the Item

This Davenport platter is decorated with a hand coloured and gilded Imari pattern-Davenport's pattern number 76. The pattern features stylised flowers and berries done in the traditional Imari colours of underglaze blue, iron red and gilding, with the addition of green and purple. It measures 415 mm ( 16.5 inches) in length, is 337 mm (13.5 inches) in width and stands 40 mm (1.5 inches) high. It is in good condition with only some faint scratches to the central well to detract from it. It dates from around 1820.
