Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Blossom Round Tray 2AB

About the Item

A sterling silver Georg Jensen Blossom circular tray, design #2AB, by Georg Jensen. The Blossom pattern, first introduced in 1905 with the renowned teapot, was later expanded to include many exquisite pieces, such as this tray. The tray features elegant openwork magnolia blossom handles and a classic hammered surface. A substantial piece, it would have been crafted by a highly skilled Jensen silversmith. The round hammered surface is elevated with a thick rim border, perfect for holding drinks or a tea set. The openwork blossom handles are hand-welded and chased, showcasing a large blossom or magnolia bud, surrounded by a series of silver beads and floral motif decorations. This iconic design is exceptionally elegant. Dimensions: 13 1/2″ across the handles, with a circular tray diameter of 10 7/8″ (34.5 cm, 27.6 cm). Weight: 815 grams (28.74 oz). Hallmarks: Georg Jensen hallmarks from the 1945–1977 period. All our items have been professionally polished by our Georg Jensen trained silversmith and are in excellent condition.

Georg Jensen by Rohde Sterling Silver Charger / Plate in Acorn Pattern #642A
By Georg Jensen
Located in New York, NY
Georg Jensen by J. Rohde sterling silver charger/ dinner plate in celebrated Acorn pattern number 642A. It measures 11'' in diameter by 3/4'', weighs 22.2 troy ounces, and bears hallmarks as shown. Johan Rohde hailed from a wealthy family and studied medicine prior to enrolling in the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1882. A forward-thinking, anti-establishment artist, he left after less than a year, disillusioned by their refusal to accept modern trends. Rohde possessed a tireless creative mind and, in addition to painting and drawing, was also a lithographer, graphic artist, bookbinder, and designer. He embraced the Scandinavian design movement which, similar to the Arts & Crafts movement in America, encouraged the application of artistic sensibility to everyday objects. Rohde designed furniture and silverware for his own home, which led him to commission Georg Jensen to execute one of his hollowware designs. The collaboration was so successful that they continued working together, with Rohde designing and Jensen...
