About the Item

A fine antique Dresden porcelain tazza or footed tray. Attributed to the Helena Wolfsohn factory. The center of the tray with a painted scene of a man taking off his hat to greet two women in a garden. The rim with a blue fishscale border with gold accents. With a (somewhat misinformed) old note to the base that reads: "TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: This is to certify that the four-footed blue and purple china Tray covered by the attached invoice was purchased by us through Messrs. E. Whiteaway & Company of London, England, in June 1937, and s a Cypher of Augustus XI of Poland, Elector of Saxony, circa 1725 to 1740, being therefore a genuine antique. A.S. Cooper & Sons by: Arthur H.M. Cooper, Manager" Marked to the base with a spurious Meissen-style AR mark likely for Helena Wolfsohn. Simply a wonderful piece of Dresden porcelain! Date: Late 19th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: There is some rubbing to the gilding (particularly to the edge of the rim) and some wear to the feet. Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Maker: Dresden Marks: With an underglaze blue AR Augustus Rex mark Measurements: Height: ca. 1 7/8 in. Width: ca. 10 in. Depth: ca. 7 3/4 in. Items purchased from this dealer must delight you. Purchases may be returned for any reason for a period of 7 days.
