Early 18th Century Saint Cloud French Porcelain Salt Cellar or Trencher

A very rare, early 18th century Saint Cloud soft-paste porcelain salt cellar. Of round form with blue underglaze style Rayonnant decoration. Dating to the first quarter of the 18th century. Bears an old exhibition sticker to the base and a St. Cloud blue underglaze Sun factory mark. The Victoria and Albert Museum houses a similar salt cellar in the in London, England in their collection. Diameter: ca. 3 1/8 in.
