KPM BERLIN GORGEOUS PORCELAIN PICTURE PAINTING: The picture shows TRISTAN AND ISEULT, being situated in boondocks / back country: A castle is visible in background; the loving couple sits on a stone bench, embracing each other - they are surrounded by rampant rosebushes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TRISTAN AND ISEULT is a legend made popular during the 12th century through French medieval poetry, and inspired from archetypal Celtic legends. - The tragic story is of the adulterous love between the Cornish knight Tristan (Tristram) and the Irish princess Iseult (Isolde, Yseult, etc.). In the 19th century, Richard Wagner composed the opera 'Tristan und Isolde', now considered one of the most influential pieces of music having ever been composed. In his work, Tristan is portrayed as a doomed romantic figure, while Isolde fulfils Wagner's quintessential feminine rôle as the redeeming woman. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PAINTED CIRCA 1900 by the PORCELAIN PAINTER ALBERT SCHÜNZEL (signed at right side / below). - Schünzel worked on behalf of KPM Berlin Porcelain Manufactory as well as as of Heubach Porcelain Manufactory / Thuringia.
