Large Porcelain and Lava Stone Decorative Bowl/Vessel or Centerpiece

About the Item

Enjoy a nice big bowl of 'Stracciatella', by Tellurico, a multidisciplinary design studio based in the Netherlands. This centerpiece-worthy, one-of-a-kind, generously-sized vessel contains volcanic lava stones gathered from the hills of the Phlegrean Fields in the south of Italy, combined with an ultra-white porcelain paste. The lava stones are added to the white porcelain paste, resulting in a brilliantly adorned ceramic work of art. During the firing, the lava melts and bursts through the porcelain creating a striking and unexpected texture ('Stracciatella' in Italian means 'little shred'). The two chemical structures, of the two materials, bond perfectly together creating an, even more, stronger porcelain. The sheen and shimmer of the glassy, black lava stones against the starkness of the matte, white porcelain provides a high impact contrast of rarefied natural beauty. Designer Information: After graduating with the Master of Contextual Design at Design Academy of Eindhoven, in 2017 Francesco Pace founded Tellurico, a multidisciplinary design studio specialised in objects, spaces and installations design. The investigation of alternative solutions through the study of folklore, together with the relationship between crafts and the environment has been the centre of Tellurico’s practice. The context in which a project is born has been the primary focus of these years' research. What binds the objects of a place to the characteristic of the place itself intertwines the historical, geological and social aspects of humankind, as well as the uniqueness and simplicity of everyday life. It is an always expanding field of investigation, as endless are the ways to live. To date, Tellurico’s works have been presented in many international venues such as Biennale of Architecture in Venice, Van AbbeMuseum in Eindhoven, M.A.D.RE. in Naples, Triennale di Milano, Bröhan Museum in Berlin, Beirut Design Fair, Italian Pavilion in Barcelona, Zoya Gallery in Bratislava and others. He works closely with private clients and received commissions from different galleries such as Side-Gallery in Barcelona, Mint London, Camp Design Gallery and Functional Art Gallery in Madrid.

  • Eclectic, One-Off Decorative Accent Table or Stool in Vivid Azure Blue
    By Louis Bressolles
    Located in New York, NY
This eclectic, one-off azure-blue decorative accent table or stool is made by French multidisciplinary artist-designer Louis Bressolles. The entirely unique sculptural object is constructed of interlocking pieces of reclaimed tree branches and layered Plexiglass sheets that have been thermoformed to create a useable structure — and which can be disassembled and reassembled like a puzzle. The puzzle's trick is that it must be constructed in a specific order. Once assembled, the lightweight materials of the piece become quite sturdy, and the finished form is reminiscent of a wild and imaginatively intertwined patchwork of branches and brambles, drenched in a cheerful, bright shade of blue that recalls the Mediterranean Sea on a sunny day. A versatile and functional design object that is guaranteed to stand-out in even the most discerning contemporary interiors. About the Artist: As an artist and designer, Bressolles has developed a personal and singular approach, inspired by lived experience. Bressolles exploits materials, particularly plastic, to new formal and technical potential, give new life to re-used plastics, such as his recent “Gainage” Collection, created with discarded swimming pool equipment...
