Meissen most lovely figurine: Cherub Feeding Pigeons Manufactory: Meissen Dating: made circa 1900 Hallmarked: Meissen Mark with Pommels on Hilts (shortly after Turn of the Century) First quality model number R 122 / former's number 16 / painter's number 50 Material: multicolored porcelain, glossy finish Technique: handmade porcelain Style: neo-Rococo Design: Paul Helmig (1859-1939) The modeller had studied at the School of Applied Arts in Dresden (Germany). He was active on behalf of Meissen manufactory in the period of 1872-1925: The modeller was specialized on design of figurine groups, clock cases and vessels with figurines in Rococo style as well as - in later period - in Art Nouveau style. THE Model R 122 was created in the year 1898. First quality Specifications: Stunning winged Meissen Cherub with curled hair - the unclad Amor supports itself on a tree's stump, being busy with feeding pigeons: One of them even touches cherub's mouth whereas other ones have taken place on bowl held by cherub. The quiver filled with Arrows of Love is attached to mentioned tree's stump. Pigeons are symbol of gentleness as well as of innocence since ancient times. - Round rocky base decorated with Rocaille ornaments existing. The figurine (look for example at its proportions or at its handsome as well as lovely features and curled hair, please) is of finest appearance, it is excellently modelled and the details are stunningly worked.
