Nantgarw Porcelain Coffee Can and Saucer, c1820 Additional information: Date : c1820 Period : George III - William IV Marks : none Origin : Nantgarw, Wales Colour : Polychrome Pattern : three small posies of flowers with leaves on both items Features: simple loop handle to can Condition : excellent; a tiny nibble to the foot-rim of the can, a speck of kiln spit to the saucer rim, and a small burst glaze bubble to the base rim with an attendant piece of clinker Restoration : none Dimensions : Can 6.1 cm high x 6.3 cm diameter Saucer 2.7 cm high x 13.8 cm diameter Notes : Although this pair of pieces are unmarked, we have noted a virtually identical floral composition to the one that can be seen in the image of the can with the handle to the right reproduced on a plate bearing an impressed Nantgarw CW mark to its base which we have listed; the same correlation has been noted on another coffee can - also of matching form - we have seen attributed to Nantgarw although that example did have gilt decoration applied to the handle, rim and base.
