Pair of Worcester Marbled Plates with Flowers Made in England circa 1810

$3,000per set

About

We are delighted to present this pair of Worcester plates with bright hand-painted flowers set against a dark purple ground in the center of each plate. Made circa 1810 they show freesia, a pink rose, a purple peony, peach colored dahlias, and other flowers. The flowers are framed by a thin border of gilt, and a wide light-grey marbled border and gilded edge. The exquisite flower paintings are worthy of being on canvas - they have a richness and attention to detail that brings them to life. The flowers seem almost to glow as they emerge from the darkness. We also have available in the same light-grey marbled pattern a group of dishes. See 1stDibs Ref. # LU866511381431. Combine these together and you have an extraordinarily beautiful group. Dimensions: diameter 8 1/8 inches x height 1 inch. Condition: Excellent Price: $3,000 for the pair of plates Background of Worcester Dishes The porcelains of the Worcester factory during this period were of the highest caliber, and were sometimes inscribed on the reverse “Manufacturers to their Majesties and the Prince Regent.” One of these dishes has such as inscription (see image #11).
