About the Item

A rare Chamberlains Worcester Porcelain Pastille Burner c.1807 – 1811. The globular bowl supported by three gilt dolphins on a triangular base, richly decorated with a vibrant orange ground and gilt netting. The bowl very finely decorated with naturalistically painted feathers.  Rare mark in red script ‘Chamberlains Worcester Manufacturer to their Royal Highnesses, The Prince of Wales and Duke of Cumberland.’ In 1807 the Chamberlain firm was appointed manufacturer to the Prince of Wales and from 1811 the Prince was appointed Regent. This mark was therefore only used during the brief period of 1807 to 1811. A similar pastille burner is illustrated by Geoffrey Golden on page 272 of his book on Chamberlain Worcester where he notes 'A marked Chamberlain Worcester pastille burner, perhaps the ''Dolphin pastille, feathers £2 2s. 0d.'' as invoiced in August 1815.' Height: 14 cm Length of base: 14 cm Width of base: 14 cm  Diameter of bowl: 10 cm
