Sevres Teapot, Thomas Martin Randall Decoration, circa 1835

About the Item

A teapot from early Sevres production (around 1780), obtained as a blank, and decorated in Thomas Martin Randall's workshop in the Sevres style. I addition to his skill in painting, he had some exceptional gilders in the workshop - note the raised and chased gilding. Thomas Martin Randall was a notable 19th-century British china painter and manufacturer. Born in 1786, he was active primarily in Staffordshire, a key center for ceramics and porcelain in England. Randall was renowned for his skill in decorating porcelain in the French rococo style, often imitating Sèvres porcelain, which was highly regarded for its intricate and elegant designs.
