A Spode porcelain Coffee Cup and Saucer very finely decorated c.1830

About the Item

A fine Spode porcelain coffee cup and saucer c.1830. Although the cup has twelve sides, it is still called 'Octagon' shape, which was introduced by Spode 1829. Very finely decorated with floral bouquets with blue-purple-white ribbon bows, and beautiful dancing butterflies all on a café au lait ground colour. The inner side of the cup is also exquisitely decorated with gold scrolling leaves and curved flower branches. Traces of a faint Spode mark in gilt script fo the base of the saucer. Condition: Very good condition. Free from crazing, damage or restoration. Minimal short scratches to surface; some wear to the gilding of the handle and the saucer.
