Tulip Coffee Cup in Gilded Paris Porcelain by Flamen-Fleury

About the Item

Tulip-shaped cup with its saucer in Old Paris Porcelain. Hand-painted pieces with lovely purple and white shades, in the shape of a tulip flower. Very delicate piece with a butterfly-shaped handle, edges slightly scalloped, reminding a flower shape. The whole set is highly gilt in the background of the saucer and the cup. A green ring is decorating the lower part of the cup. Saucer stamped beneath "Flamen/Fleury/Paris" in red letters, referring to a french Porcelain Manufactory set in Paris : Flamen-Fleury (1816-1828). This manufactory, created in the late 18th century, was first known during the French Empire as "Fleury" and specialized in luxury gilt porcelainware. It became "Flamen-Fleury" in 1816 and had an intensive activity and a lot of success until its closing in 1828. Wonderful aesthetic movement tea cup in hand-painted and hand-gilt porcelain by the English manufactory Minton. Blue background with stylized red flowers imitating the cloisonné technique, very common in the Japonisme ware.
