Unique Art Deco Vase with Stylized Fish, 1930 by Hentschel for Rookwood

About the Item

One of the finest and most remarkable examples of Art Deco pottery we've seen by the famous Rookwood firm in Cincinnati, this vase gorgeously finished in a rust-hued glaze features a sculpted, stylized fish, along with large chevron motifs. The vase was sculpted and glazed by William Hentschel, one of the two or three most important artists working at Rookwood in the Art Deco era. After many years at Rookwood, Hentschel went on to found the Kenton Hills Pottery, also in Cincinnati.
