Victorian Davenport Imari Porcelain Tapered Vase, England, circa 1880
A fine quality late 19th century English porcelain vase by Davenport, Longport, Staffordshire. Of square tapering form, this striking piece is decorated in the traditional Imari palette of cobalt blue, iron red and rich gilt. Each panel is intricately hand-painted with stylised floral motifs and geometric elements, bordered by scrolling gilt designs. The upper interior is finished with a continuous floral band.
Marked to the base with the Davenport crown stamp in red.
