Vintage Lagardo Tackett Porcelain Espresso Plates ... Set of 8 MCM Snack Plates

About the Item

A set of 8 vintage Lagardo Tackett porcelain espresso plates in a beautiful shade of grass green. Each has a recessed circle for a coordinating cup, which I do not have. Great on their own as appetizer plates. Lovely organic shape. Lagardo Tackett (called Tack) was a Los Angeles-based designer and ceramicist (1911-1994) whose large body of work focused on modernist pieces with organic shapes. Some of his work was showcased at MOMA in 1951. He also spent time in Japan, where he was influenced by well-known Japanese ceramicists of the period. This set was produced by Schmid International, a large porcelain producer based in Boston, Massachusetts. Each measures 6.25" long x 4-1/8" width at widest point. Weigh 3 lbs. altogether. Good, pre-owned condition, with no chips, cracks, or crazing. Very shiny glaze. Slight losses to the green glazed finish on some plates at the outer edges and at the indented circle.
