Pair of Art Nouveau Tiffany Style Lamps with Hand Leaded Glass Shades
Located in Dallas, TX
A pair of extraordinary art nouveau Tiffany style lamps with hand-made leaded glass shades. Each lamp shade has a unique finely detailed leaded glass design. The body is made of bronze with a rich chocolate brown patina. It is supported by six stylized lions paws. A star shape sits on the bottom under the legs and over the plate that the lamp body stands on. Imagery on the leaded glass shade includes leaves and dragonflies defined by a metal frame. Large deep rose-colored oval jewel shapes sit on top around the shade. This pattern is often referred to as the drophead dragonfly shade because the undulating lower edge of the shade is formed by the flying insects. Delicate tracery and soft colors are drawn on the wings of the dragon flies. The canopy on top of the shade is also reticulated bronze with a beaded finial. The textured glass that creates a foliate effect contains subtle shades of green and teals. Unsigned. In very good condition. Some minor gentle wear and aging consistent with age and use. An elegant classic art nouveau design that would add dramatic detail to many varying styles of interior. As a fun fact, this lush and colorful piece was once in the private collection of Larry Flynt...
