A Doulton Burslem Persian influenced pottery ewer, circa 1890

About the Item

This very stylish Doulton Burslem pottery ewer is of a very rare and unusual design which is heavily influenced by a Middle Eastern Persian style. The body is almost pear shaped and has a cream ground and is beautifully hand painted with flowers in subtle mellow tones edged in a raised tube lined gilding. The other stylish elements of this ewer, the geometrically shaped handle, the tall elegant narrow neck and cover and the most exotic stylised unusually shaped spout are all matching and decorated in a simpler palette of a rich brick red and lustrous gold all delicately hand painted with interesting individual designs. This fine ewer is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. There is some slight discolouring to the underside of the foot. English, circa 1890 Height 29cm x width 15cm x depth 12cm
