Japanese antique pottery bowl/17th century - 18th century/Karatsu "Katakuchi" bo

About the Item

Karatsu is a historic kiln located in Saga prefecture during the Momoyama period (1573~). The location of the Karatsu kiln is indicated by a red circle in the photo. This is a "katakuchi-bowl". katakuchi is the name of a container with a spout. It is a tool for putting sake and water and pouring it into a vessel. This is a work from the early to mid-Edo period (1600-1700s). Since it was an excavated item, it has been restored like this by collecting broken pieces of "katakuchi-bowl" from the remains of the kiln. The joints are finished with black lacquer mixed with silver powder. It's very smooth, shiny and beautiful. Birds are also drawn in iron painting. Also, since a similar item was published in an art book, I have included a photo of it as a reference. There is also small flaking of the glaze on the edges and 4 very thin cracks on the edges. I put water in it for a day and there was no leakage. Use it to hold alcohol or serve food. Cannot be used in the microwave or dishwasher. Also, I want many people to know the goodness of antiques, so the price is set reasonably. Why don't you show off to your friends around you? Weight: 792g
