Reticulated Royal Worcester Porcelain Bowl Attr. to George Owen & Samuel Ranford

About the Item

A fine antique Aesthetic Period gilt and reticulated porcelain bowl. By the Royal Worcester Porcelain Manufactory. Attributed to George Owen & the gilder Samuel Ranford. Of double-walled construction with a pink ground, turquoise & white jeweled ribbon to the top border, jeweling throughout, a geometric honeycomb reticulated pattern to the center that is punctuated by geometric shield devices and offset by 2 cartouches with ornately gilded scenes including cranes in raised gold decoration. Marked to the base with an underglaze factory mark for Royal Worcester and RS initials for the gilder Samuel Ranford. Simply a wonderful example of top-level reticulated Worcester porcelain! Date: Apparently 1875 Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Condition Details: There is some minor rubbing to the gold throughout and some minor losses to the jeweling (particularly highpoints) throughout. Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Maker: Royal Worcester Marks: Marked to the base with an underglaze factory mark for Royal Worcester (including an apparent 75 at the base of the mark) and with RS initials for the gilder Samuel Ranford.
