Georgian Sterling Silver Cream Jug by Henry Chawner

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George III English sterling silver cream jug made by Henry Chawner; an addition to our Georgian silver teaware collection. This exceptional antique George III sterling silver cream jug by Henry Chawner has a circular rounded form onto a pedestal with a circular spreading foot and square base. The upper portion of the body is ornamented with a band of bright cut engraved arched decoration with alternating leaf designs to the lower portion, emanating from the pedestal. The rim of the body is encompassed with an applied reed decorated border. This fine example of Georgian silverware is fitted with a narrow loop handle ornamented with plain applied moulded decoration. The underside of the spout is ornamented with bright cut engraved batwing style fluted decoration. The surface of the reed decorated foot and square base are embellished with further bright cut engraved and pin struck leaf motifs and simple paralleling border. This highly desirable antique cream jug was crafted by the renowned and collectable London silversmiths Henry Chawner. Condition This antique cream jug by Henry Chawner is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition. The bright cut engraved decoration is all very crisp. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the base are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of Georgian silver.     A fine and impressive, large antique George III English sterling silver cream jug made by Henry Chawner, an addition to our Georgian silver teaware collection. This fine antique George III sterling silver cream jug has an oval shaped form. The surface of the incurved panelled body is plain and embellished with a bright cut engraved oval carotuche to either side, one side bears the contemporary engraved initials' and the other remains vacant. The upper and lower rims are encompassed with applied reed decorated borders. This fine Georgian silver cream jug is fitted with a plain scrolling handle ornamented with applied moulded decoration.     An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Georgian English sterling silver and glass ladies inkstand; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection This exceptional antique George III sterling silver desk Standish has a navette shaped form onto four bracket feet. This inkstand is encompassed with an applied thread decorated border, in addition to the contemporary engraved initials 'WW'. The rim of the body of the sterling silver inkstand is ornamented with a paralleling applied reed decorated border. The internal wirework style frame of the stand is divided into three rounded supports. Each internal compartment retains the original rounded glass bottles with cut glass ornamentation in addition to impressive scalloped bases. The ink, pen/quill and pounce bottles retain the original plain silver cylindrical mounts fitted with push fit hallmarked covers. The rim of each circular cover is encircled with applied moulded borders and bears the corresponding functional pierced decorated holes. This large silver ink Standish was crafted by the renowned London silversmiths Henry Chawner. Such original ladies examples, in perfect condition, are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.     An exceptional, fine and impressive, antique William IV English sterling silver cream jug; an addition to our silver teaware collection. This exceptional antique sterling silver cream jug has an baluster shaped form onto a domed pedestal and an octagonal shaped spreading foot. The body of this silver cream jug is embellished with embossed floral ornamentation accented with scrolling leaf designs and panels of scale textures. The decoration to the body incorporates a scroll bordered and features a vacant cartouche to one side. The lower portion of the body encompassed with the contemporary engraved inscription 'Presented by the South Devon Agricultural Society to Richard Anthony for the best managed Farm under 150 acres'. The rim of this 1830s cream jug is embellished with an applied alternating shell decorated border. This fine example of antique silverware is fitted with an impressive cast antique mystical fish decorated handle ornamented with scale decoration. The domed circular portion of the foot is encircled with a band of floral and scrolling leaf decoration. The interior of this antique silver cream jug retains the original gilding. Condition This antique 1830s cream jug is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition. The applied and chased decoration is very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the spout have wear in keeping with age and location; the maker’s mark has wear but remains legible.     A fine and impressive pair of antique Victorian English sterling silver sparrow beak style creamers, boxed; an addition to our silver teaware collection. These impressive antique Victorian sterling silver cream jugs have a plain baluster sparrow beak style form onto a circular spreading foot. The body of each jug is embellished to one side with two impressive bright cut engraved crests, a stag's head erased and a thistle erect, leaved below the motto ‘Yvery’. The jugs are fitted with opposing scroll handles, each ornamented with a subtle plain thumb piece. These impressive antique cream jugs have sparrow beak style spouts. These cream jugs are fitted to the original hinged leatherette box with satin and velvet lined interior and push fit catch.
