Mappin & Webb Sterling Silver Footed Mustard Pot with Glass Liner, Circa 1929

Elaborate figural Egyptian Revival Victorian biscuit jar made by Mappin & Webb during the 19th century. This highly stylized piece features a winged sphinx with an Egyptian head piece finial. The piece is heavily engraved and has 4 four plaques that can be personalized. The bottom edge interior and outer edge is beaded and it stands on four stylized claw feet. The bottom is stamped with an early Mappin & Webb hallmark along with W 16 and some etched handwritten numbers as well. A truly spectacular piece that would be a wonderful addition to your home. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver mustard pot has an oval tapering form. The body of the mustard pot is embellished with a broad shaped band of pierced scrolling leaf ornamentation flanked with undulating wigglework decorated borders.
