About the Item

A Very Unusual Pair of Serving Tongs Made in London in 1855 by Francis Higgins The Tongs have very unusual shaped sides, with a domed top and slender upper section of the arms, all displaying a fiddle and thread pattern border. The lower section of the arms are most unusually shaped with a corrugated form, pierced with ovals and a heart shaped motif. This section is also engraved with linear designs and the top of the arched section displays a contemporary Crest. The tongs are in excellent condition and are very well marked.
