Pair of Wedgwood Creamware Chestnut Baskets and Underplates

About the Item

By Wedgwood, England. This pair of Chestnut Baskets and underplates was one of Wedgwood's most intricate handmade designs, circa 1790s. Redolent of the Georgian period, this color combination is gorgeous and rare. While sublimely fine and elegant, they have a naïve feel that is visually charming. A very delicate piece, it is rare to find one much less a pair. Very good condition with a very slight original loss to the weave which was hidden by color (hard to see). Remark: "Few luxuries compare to that of living with history. Offering your guests chestnuts or citrus fruit was a Georgian ostentation." Size: underplate is a 10 1/2 inch oval, the bowl is a 9 1/2 inch oval Hallmarks: Impressed Wedgwood hallmark and painted quality control mark. Stock number: 22186 Pieces acquired from this dealer must delight you. Purchases may be returned for any reason for a period of 3 days.
