19th Century English Set Of Fishing Fork And Knife

About the Item

This is a 19th century English set of sterling silver fish serving fork and knife. Their handles are made of ivory like material and adorned with a collar of beads and acanthus leaves. The sterling silver blade and root area of both pieces are pierced. They are also engraved delicately with the Prince of Wales feathers like and scrolls with dots. Both of them are hallmarked and were made by Harrison Brothers and Howson of Sheffield in 1876. They are in their original purple satin and royal blue velvet fabrics lined oval brown box. The length of the fork and knife are 9.1” and 11.75”, respectively. Their width are 2”.

    Wear consistent with age and use. There is a long fine fissure in the back of the ivory like handle of the fork and another small one in the handle of the knife. Also, there is a normal aged staining in the handles.
