19th Century Sterling Silver Flatware Service by Gorini Frères

About the Item
108-piece sterling silver flatware service in neoclassical style, in its oak case crafted by the silversmith Gorini Frères. The set includes an array of sumptuous serving pieces. The service boasts an elegant decoration of acanthus leaves, crowns, torches and foliage. The box with brass handles and keyhole, is signed: GORINI FRÈRES / Joailliers Orfèvres / PARIS-POITIERS.
The set comprises:
- 12 oyster forks
- 12 dinner knives with stainless steel blades and mother of pearl handles (not weighed)
- 12 dessert knives with stainless steel blades and mother of pearl handles (not weighed)
- 24 dinner forks
- 12 dessert cutlery
- 12 dinner spoons
- 12 dessert spoons
Weight: 5048 g.
The utensils are housed in a custom-fitted chest, and hallmarked with "NT" monogram, the inscription PARIS and two marks:
- Minerve silver mark 1st title (after 1838)
- manufacturer mark LG in a diamond,
circa 1840
