About the Item

An Art Deco sterling silver tazza model 718, designed in the mid 1930's by Count Sigvard Bernadotte (1907-2002) for Georg Jensen the world renowned Danish silverware company. Sigvard Bernadotte, was a leading Swedish designer of the 20th century and had a very prolific body of work, from MGM movie studios to luxury objects to mundane household equipment. His collaboration with Georg Jensen was a collection of highly innovative and sleek designs which marked a departure from the Art Nouveau aesthetic that dominated the company's production since it's creation in 1904. Many of Sigvard's Bernadotte's designs have become household classics and are still in production to this day. This is an older piece, signed with a full set of marks including the Georg Jensen & Wendel mark used from 1945 to 1951, in addition there is an inscription to the reverse of the base I.L March 20-1949.
