George III Sterling Silver Novelty Bag Vinaigrette, circa 1815
About the Item
A George III sterling silver Vinaigrette by the silversmith Lawrence & Co, Birmingham, circa 1815. The Vinaigrette is of novelty bag form, with textured foliate motifs on a matted background, the cover with a grapevine border and oval shaped foliate motif, the interior with a pierced and engraved foliate scroll grille, with a chain attachment. The hinged cover is hallmarked with the markers mark 'L&Co' Lawrence and Co, George III duty mark, and lion passant to denote sterling silver.
Date: circa 1815.
Period: 19th century.

Maker: Lawrence and Co.
Measurement: The Vinaigrette measures 2.0cm (height) x 2.5cm (length) x 1.4cm (depth).
Weight: 7.7 grams / 0.25 troy ounces.
Condition: The Vinaigrette is in good condition with light surface scratches, tarnishing, and marks commensurate with age. The cover hinge, and grill hinge both close tightly. Please see photos for confirmation of condition.
