About the Item

Gorgeous as well as rarest silver Augsburg Empire Huilière or spice Set Period: Empire Dating: 1802 Material: solid silver 800 and opal glass Manufactory: Johann Matthias Lang (Master Since 1782), died after 1806 or this master created for example a gilded Torah Shield and bowls with glass liners (1793-99) which is documented via monograph book written by Helmut Seling (Munich 1980). Bibliography: Helmut Seling, Die Kunst der Augsburger Goldschmiede (= The Art of Augsburg Goldsmiths) 1529-1868, vol. I - III: vol. I (page 159) / vol. II (number 708) / vol. III (master's sign number 2591) - please look, too, at pictures attached above. Specifications: The set consists of an oval platter which is curved at middle areas or it has smooth surface, being based on four-feet of cone type with acanthus leaves. There are two bottles for holding oil and vinegar existing, these ones are made of bright blue opal glass, surrounded by reticulated edgings having appearance of framing of so-said Trembleuses. Additionally, the bottles have silver stoppers attached to movable chains which are fixed to the silver strutting of middle area or mentioned bottles are surrounded by edgings having a fence's appearance which hold by movable chain two small bowls for keeping salt and pepper. The strutting of middle area is topped by stunningly worked reticulated small basket decorated with flower festoons below.
