This exceptional antique Edward VIII sterling silver Cartier case has a rectangular form. The posterior surface and cover of this antique box are embellished with panels of engine turned decoration. The sides of this silver case are further embellished with protruding segmented panels of enamel to either end. The box is fitted with a hinged hallmarked cover, securing with a push fit catch, embellished with two step cut rubies flanked with two step cut sapphires. The interior of this case, crafted by Jacques Cartier, is plain and retains the original gilding. This exceptional case is fitted to the original hinged leatherette presentation box with a velvet lined interior, securing with a push fit catch. The interior of the cover bears the retailer's mark 'Cartier, London 175 New Bond St, Paris 13 Ruede La Paix, New York 6535th Avenue'. Condition: This antique Cartier case is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition. The enamel panels are in perfect condition. Full hallmarks struck to the interior of the base, in addition to the part hallmarks to the interior of the cover are all clear; the lion passant to the full hallmarks has wear in keeping with age and location.
