About the Item

Artfully decorated fire-gilded and enamelled bronze clock by a Viennese master: Fully sculpted bronze Atlas on a slightly curved oval base supporting a round clock case, all surfaces covered with fine enamel painting - on the base, which is framed by a bronze cord, a ruin landscape is painted radially, the clock case is painted with antique-style landscape scenes and cloud formations with cherubs, on the reverse side an aged angel, a symbol of time connecting the past and the present, possibly also a reference to Jerome as a Latin Church Father in connection with the red cloak and scrolls, surrounded by angels and a writing muse, case crowned by a small flaming bronze vase. Clockwork with bronze case, hinged and opening to the right, double key winding, dial with cloud scene with two cherubs and black painted Roman numerals, clockwork in working order, two winding keys included. Made around 1880 Dimensions: Height: 19,0 cm / 7.48 in Width: 8,5 cm / 3.34 in Depth: 4,8 cm / 1.88 in Gross weight: 282 Grams / 9.06 troy OZ Very well maintained condition - Enamel intact, movement functional, original keys existing.
