Vintage Sterling Silver Goblets (1969)
About the Item
An exceptional, fine and impressive vintage Elizabeth II English sterling silver goblet set; an addition to our range of collectable silverware.
These exceptional vintage sterling silver goblets have a tapering bell shaped form onto a circular knopped pedestal and circular swept foot.
The surface of each drinking vessel is encompassed with a panel of machine engraved stylised floral and foliate decoration, all on a matte textured background.
The lower portion of the body of each goblet is further ornamented with engraved fluted decoration.
The circular shaped stems of the goblets are encircled with plain convex knops.
The swept base of each goblet is embellished with further machine engraved fluted decoration, with applied egg decoration to the rim.
The goblets retain the original gilt interior.
Condition
This vintage sterling silver goblets set is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
Each piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.
Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each goblets are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the superior gauge of silver.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these sterling silver goblets, set of 6.

An exceptional, fine and impressive vintage Elizabeth II English sterling silver goblet; an addition to our wine and drinks related silverware collection
This exceptional vintage Elizabeth II sterling silver goblet has a circular bell-shaped form onto a pedestal domed, spreading foot.
The surface of this vintage silver goblet has a subtly planished finish.
The body of the goblet is further ornamented with three impressive cast and applied leaf designs, emanating and conjoining with the plain waisted stem.
The plain domed circular foot features an impressive tiered arrangement.
This exceptional goblet was crafted by the female silversmith Joan Ruxton and assayed in Sheffield; the vessel is hallmarked with the date letter 'X' (1965) and the underside bears the mark 'A' (1968)*.
* It can be determined that this artisanal silversmith will have opted to create an addition plate for the base to provide further weight to the piece, this component was hallmarked at a later date to the initial vessel.

An exceptional, fine and impressive, large antique Victorian English sterling silver goblet; an addition to our collection of wine and drinks related silverware
This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver goblet has a circular bell shaped form onto a knopped stem and circular spreading foot.
The body of this large silver goblet is embellished with bright cut engraved suspended leaf festoons accented with ribbon bow motifs and interlacing swags.
The decoration to the body incorporates a large oval vacant cartouche to either side.
The upper portion of the goblet is encompassed with bright cut engraved interlacing and scalloped borders below an applied moulded rim.
The knop to the stem is encircled with a bead decorated border.
The foot is ornamented with further bright cut engraved simplified leaf festoon decoration accented with a scalloped border to the rim.
This exceptional and large silver goblet retains the original gilded interior.

This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver gilt goblet has a circular bell shaped form onto a knopped pedestal and circular spreading foot, in the classic pineapple style.
The body of this impressive antique silver goblet is composed of chased and embossed lozenge shaped convex panels, replicating the fruitlets/spikes of a pineapple, each ornamented with a quatrefoil-floral design.
The decoration to the body incorporates an impressive quatrefoil shaped cartouche displaying the contemporary engraved monogram initials 'HM'.
The upper rim is encompassed with an applied band of bead decoration.
The waisted pedestal features a circular knop to the centre encircled with further floral motifs.
The circular spreading foot is encompassed with a continuation of segmented lozenge panels, reflecting that of the body.
This sterling silver goblet retains the original gilding; the gilding to the exterior of the goblet has worn with age in a sympathetic fashion.
