1880s Pair of Victorian Sterling Silver Condiment Shakers

$2,005.23per set

About

A fine and impressive pair of antique Victorian English sterling silver condiment shakers; an addition to our silver tableware collection These impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver condiment shakers have an inverted pear shaped form onto a circular spreading foot. The body of each caster is embellished with a shaped band of embossed scrolling leaf and floral ornamentation on a matte background, flanked with fluted ornamentation in a swirl design. Each silver caster retains the original hallmarked bayonet fit cover, embellished with further embossed fluted and scroll ornamentation and incorporating pierced circular motifs in a floral ornamentation. The covers are encircled with bands of applied moulded decoration to the rims. The weighted base of each piece is encompassed with a band of applied bead decoration to the rim and features green baize to the underside. These impressive examples of Victorian silverware were crafted by Julius (Judah) Rosenthal & Samuel Jacob of Rosenthal, Jacob & Co. Condition These antique silver shakers are a very good gauge of silver for their type, excellent quality and in exceptional presentation condition. Full hallmarks are struck to the surface of each body and sleeve of each rim are all clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this Victorian silverware.
