Louis Constant Sévin & F. Barbedienne, a Rare Ormolu and Blue Glass Centerpiece

About the Item

Louis Constant Sévin & F. Barbedienne, a rare ormolu and blue glass centerpiece, circa 1880. This fantastic quality centerpiece vase is made with the highest quality ormolu bronze. Made with pierced ormolu and decorated with medallions of putti and trophies of musical instruments. The vase is lined with an original cobalt blue glass vase. Signed F. Barbedienne This vase is a creation by Louis Constant Sévin, renowned for his “exquisite compositions”, made for the Barbedienne cast company. It demonstrates the Louis XVI style developed in France in the second half of the 19th century, enhanced by the enthusiasm of Empress Eugénie for Queen Marie-Antoinette. Our model is similar to a two handled vase reproduced in the Journal of Decorative Arts in 1888. (Photo attached) Measures: 8" high x 8" diameter Very good condition. No damages. Ready to place. Due to the item's age do not expect items to be in perfect condition and I may not describe every little scratch or spot. I will be more than willing to give you additional information. Please inspect all images for more detailed information and condition of items, pictures are part of my description. I will provide additional photographs if needed.
