Antique Drabware Group of Cups and Saucers England Circa 1825

About the Item

Made in England in the early 19th century, this set of drabware has six tea cups and saucers and a pair of coffee cans. Unlike other colored earthenwares, which have a white body painted in various colors or tinted with colored glazes, drabware is made from dark clay, resulting in its deep, rich color. Because drabware is made with naturally colored clays, there are slight variations in color from piece to piece. The gold trim on this set adds a subtle glow. Dimensions: the saucers measure 5.25" in diameter, the cups measure 2.25" tall x 3.25" in diameter, and the two coffee cans measure 2.75" tall x 2.5" diameter Condition: Excellent Price: $960 Background of Drabware: Wedgwood and Spode introduced drabware in England in the early 19th century.
