Antique Scottish Sterling Silver Teapot
About the Item
An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George II Scottish sterling silver teapot; an addition to our Georgian silver teaware collection
This exceptional antique Georgian sterling silver teapot has an globular bullet-shaped onto a cast circular spreading foot.
The surface of this silver teapot is embellished with flat engraved foliate and floral decoration to the upper portion.
The body of the teapot incorporates the engraved crest of on a mount, a centaur with a bow and arrow, all above the motto 'Ut Quocunque Paratus' - As prepared for whatever may happen*.
This antique 18th century silver teapot is fitted with a flush hinged cover ornamented with a continuation of flat engraved leaf decoration; the flush hinge indicates the high quality of the piece.
The cover is surmounted with an impressive cast sterling silver leaf bud style finial.
This exceptional example of antique teaware retains the original cast C shaped handle, featuring a leaf decorated thumbpiece, continuing to the upper socket,
This impressive example of Georgian silverware has a cast silver swan necked spout embellished with fluted decoration and an applied scrolling motif to the lip.
* These heraldic markings pertain to the Lambert family.
Condition
This antique 18th century silver teapot is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.
The interior of the teapot has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use.
The cast decoration is very sharp and the flat engraved decoration is very crisp.
Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the body are all very clear; the hallmarks are deeply struck due to the exceptional gauge of silver.

This exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver teapot has an inverted pear shaped form onto a circular spreading foot.
The surface of the bachelor teapot is plain and unembellished.
The upper rim of the body is ornamented with a band of cast and applied gadroon decoration all in a swirl design.
This antique silver teapot is fitted with a hallmarked, domed flush hinged cover surmounted with an impressive and original, cast sterling silver flame style finial; the flush hinge indicates the high quality of the piece.
This exceptional example of antique teaware retains the original C scroll carved painted wood handle featuring a plain scrolling thumbpiece and a cast silver leaf decorated design to the upper socket,
This impressive example of antique silverware has a cast silver swan necked spout embellished with fluted decoration and applied leaf motif to the lip.
The ornamentation to the underside of the spout incorporates a vacant oval cartouche below a shell motif.
The cast circular spreading foot is encircled with further gadroon decoration to the rim.
