An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George II Scottish sterling silver teapot; an addition to our Georgian silver teaware collection
This exceptional antique Georgian sterling silver teapot has an globular bullet-shaped onto a cast circular spreading foot.
The surface of this silver teapot is embellished with flat engraved foliate and floral decoration to the upper portion.
The body of the teapot incorporates the engraved crest of on a mount, a centaur with a bow and arrow, all above the motto 'Ut Quocunque Paratus' - As prepared for whatever may happen*.

"Four piece set of antique mid 19th century Samuel Alcock porcelain tea / coffee cups and saucers featuring turquoise blue with florals and gold gilding.
Samuel Alcock (1799–1848) was a leading pottery manufacturer who operated as Samuel Alcock & Co in Burslem, Staffordshire from 1828 to 1859. They were especially noted for ""picture jugs"" modelled and moulded in relief in various ceramic materials, a popular type of object in these years.
Samuel Alcock & Co.
Alcock was born in Kingsley, Staffordshire. He was the youngest of the nine children of Thomas (1746–1816) and Catherine Alcock (1756–1838). Though from a farming background, he developed an interest in commerce after working with his uncle Joseph Locker, a grocer, tea dealer, provision dealer, chandler and banker of the Market Square, Hanley. His introduction to pottery came when he embarked upon a partnership with Ralph Stevenson of Cobridge, Staffordshire.
In 1828, Alcock developed his own business and began work on the Hill Top site in Cobridge. By the 1830s Stevenson employed 600 people at his works. In 1839 he completed work on a large factory, built in the Venetian style, on the junction of Westport Road and Greenhead Street. The upper portion of this 18th century teapot is embellished with flat chased floral and fruit arrangements, incorporating a scrolling leaf bordered vacant cartouche to one side.
The upper rim of the body is ornamented with a shaped band of scalloped simplified leaf designs.
This antique silver teapot is fitted with a hallmarked, domed flush hinged cover surmounted with an impressive and original, cast sterling silver tiered floral bud style finial; the flush hinge indicates the high quality of the piece.
The cover is further ornamented with flat chased foliate designs to the rim and encircling the lower portion of the finial.
This exceptional example of antique teaware retains the original cast C-shaped handle featuring a scrolling leaf thumbpiece; this leaf design continues to the upper socket.
This impressive example of antique silverware has a cast silver swan necked spout embellished with further flat chased foliate designs and applied leaf motif to the lip.
