An exceptional French Paris porcelain tea cup complete with its original undertray, of outstanding quality. First quarter of the nineteenth century.
Exquisitely painted with Classical monochrome ovals alternating with portrait medallions cast in relief, all on a gold leaf ground.
Depicting King of the ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon Alexander the Great. Italian Poet Dante. A French dramatist and master of French comedy Moliere. A Roman senator renowned for his oratorical skill Cicer.
Condition: Superb condition for such early items with slight wear to gilding and free of any restorations. Both pieces are unmarked.
Measures: Height: (of cup including saucer) 4.75" (12cm). Diameter of saucer: (at base) 6” (15cm).
