George III silver teapot & stand

About the Item

Classic Adam style silver teapot and stand from the late 18th century. The elegant boat-shaped oval body of the teapot is nicely hand engraved with brightcut work that incorporates scrolls swags and garlands, and there is a plain cartouche on either side. The domed cover has a flush hinge, a mark of quality, and is surmounted by a wooden finial carved in the shape of a pineapple, the traditional symbol of hospitality. This silver teapot, which will serve approximately six cups of tea, sits on its original four-legged stand, shaped to fit the body of the teapot and engraved in the same manner as the silver teapot.
