Pair of Paris Porcelain Three-Footed Gilded Coffee Cups. Empire Period

About the Item

A superb pair of opulent 'Porcelain de Paris' three-footed coffee cups with matching saucers – one blue, one burgundy – each richly embellished with hand-painted gilt detailing in eye- catching geometric bands. These very stylish cups are also fully gilded on the inside, the idea being to give the illusion of drinking gold when the cup is filled. Dating from the early 19th century, the cups have characteristically high, curved handles, also fully gilded for an sumptuous finish. Please note that there have been minor restorations to both cups. However, they are in excellent vintage condition, and would be an elegant addition to any breakfast table.
