About the Item
Stylish set of 8 espresso/coffee/tea cups designed in 1974 by Carsten Jorgensen and manufactured in Denmark by Bodum. This set consists of 4 heat resistant tempered glass cups with black plastic handles and matching saucers, and 4 heat resistant tempered glass cups with red plastic handles and matching saucers. These have a classic, modern design and were most notably used in Star Trek Next Generation. Marked Bodum, Denmark, on saucers.

Carsten Jørgensen is a Danish industrial designer, best known in the design community as the former director of Bodum for over 25 years. His Bistro teacup is so ubiquitous to The Next Generation, it is sometimes referred to as “The Picard Cup,” from which Captain Picard drinks his “Tea, Earl Grey, Hot.” It was also used, less prominently, in several episodes of Voyager. Most recently, it appeared in the first episode of Picard, in Admiral Picard’s dream of sitting with Data in Ten Forward.
