Vintage 1970s Russian Silver Gilt and Polychrome Cloisonné Enamel Tea Strainer

About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive vintage Russian silver gilt and polychrome cloisonné enamel tea strainer; an addition to our silver tea ware collection. This exceptional vintage Russian silver gilt and polychrome cloisonné enamel tea strainer has a circular rounded form. The bowl of the tea strainer is embellished with a pierced concentric circular design, encircled with Dual bands of white enamel bead motifs to the rim. The tapering handle is embellished with an impressive cloisonné enamel floral and foliate design in tones of blue and green, accented with further bands of white enamel circular motifs encompassing the concave thumb piece. The enamel segments are encompassed with applied silver paralleling rope twist ornamentation. This fine Russian silver enamel tea strainer retains the original gilding. The hallmarks to the reverse surface of the bowl include: Maker's mark: ??? (Untraced) Soviet silver mark: Hammer and sickle star emblem Assay mark: ? (Leningrad*) Silver quality/purity mark: 916 (916/1000) The modern day city name of Lenigrad is St. Petersburg. Condition This vintage Russian silver enamel tea strainer is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The enamel is in perfect condition. The Russian hallmarks struck to the reverse of the strainer bowl are all very clear. An exceptional, fine and impressive Russian silver gilt and niello enamel beaker, an addition to our Russian silverware collection. This exceptional antique Russian silver gilt beaker has a cylindrical, tapering form. The surface of this antique beaker is embellished with a fine niello enamel scene depicting a structural rooftop skyline behind a towered brick wall, incorporating cloud designs on the matte textured upper portion. The ornamentation to the beaker is flanked with two opposing chevron style borders. The upper rim of the beaker is encircled with an applied moulded border.
