Antique Mid-Atlantic States Folky Slide Lid Candle Box with an Original Red Wash

About the Item

A fine antique American candle box. In pine or fir with its original red paint. A rectangular candle or table box having a slide lid with carved sides & a thumb slot. Round nail construction. Found in Virginia. Simply a wonderful folky box! Date: 19th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: There is checking (or splits from drying) to the base and one side. Otherwise, there is some edge wear, some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Marks: Unmarked Measurements: Length: ca. 9 3/4 in.
