Antique Handmade "Mosaic Hexagons" Swedish patchwork quilt made in 1860s. (160 years old). Pieced quilt, mid-19th century, Swedish. Fancy period calicoes left over from clothing and decorating fabrics are pieced in hexagon shapes to form this beautiful rural bedcover. The elaborately quilted canvas white ground emphasizes the graceful details of this patchwork. Finely stitched back. quilting includes the "waffle".
On the backside a note that says: Quilt made by Tullia Sahlmark 1960s. Lapptäcke sytt af Tullia Sahlmark. 1860-talet. Its a beautiful museum piece. It contains stains and patina. A conservator report has been made.
