Bronze sculpture of dual vikings by Edward Aagaard A mid century statue of two Vikings in bronze. Light bronze patina consistent with age. Gothic home decor with Art Nouveau styling. Very detailed casting of Warrior Vikings with swords at the side, pipe blowers, Scandinavian "Lur" horns. Each flanked with garment capes and Celtic skirts with laced high footwear. Perched standing at ease on an oblong platform with inscribed semicircle typeface of the Battle Poem at their feet. Danish - English inscription, signed bottom by Artist marks, Edward Aagaard Circa 1950s. Inscription reads : RESOUNDING LURES FOR BATTLE RALLIED EACH HERO SON, STRONG AS BEARS - BRAVE AS EAGLES, GIANTS SPRANG UP. Consigned Estate piece from the North Shore of Long Island. 3+lbs of Bronze Metal Casted. In very good preowned condition, some metal patina on the surface which is resonating from aged metal, sound structural condition, mounted base in very good condition, so rusting on the screw nuts typical of this piece materials used in the original hardware fittings. Insured shipping to the continental USA. Goes well with minimal mid century decoration as well as traditional and modern decor, excellent shelf display art for home or office.
