Skillfully handmade by sculptor Stefania Boemi, this anthropomorphic vase of a woman is a striking homage to Sicily's rich cultural traditions. The subject is drawn from Sicilian lore, a story of love and revenge between a Moor and a maiden dating back to the period of the Muslim conquest. Fashioned of terracotta with a black matte glaze, an X-shaped accent in gold leaf covers the right eye, emphasizing the captivating gaze. The richness of the natural pigments, reminiscent of Sicily's volcanic rocks, enhance the color intensity and meticulous sculptural details that make this piece unique.
