A pair of very impressive and distinct Paavo Tynell chandeliers commissioned and manufactured by Taito Oy for the exhibition hall on the 8th floor of the Arabia factory in Helsinki. We have been consigned to sell these lamps directly by the Arabia Art Department Society. These lamps share a history between two iconic companies (Taito Oy, and Arabia) that paved the way for the Finnish design industry and made it into what it is today. Standing at almost 2 meters high, these lamps were specially designed for such a high ceiling space, and meant to be the center of attention. As always Tynell lamps were made to last and this exemplary pair has sustained great condition for the past 80 years. Displaying nothing but 3 beautifully patinated brass stems supporting a white glass shade, the elegance of the design comes from the minimalism it portrays. We also have the 3rd lamp from the Arabia factory, which is still being repaired. It is available, if the buyer wants a third lamp as well. Refinished. Replacements made: The metal tubes have been replaced by brass tubes. We still have the original tubes, if the buyer wishes to have them. They were made of dented metal , not even tubes originally, because of wartime shortage on materials, especially metals. Wear consistent with age and use. The metal parts have been repainted. The overall impression is good.
